Tutorial - Smelter The Smelter is where you are able to create the resource Steel. Steel is used in creating advanced strutures and is available by creating the Smelter structure in the second tier level of the structures page. To create Steel, you need Iron and Coal. The amount of Iron and Coal that you have is shown at the top of the screen and the maximum amount of Steel you can create is also shown. To create steel, all you need to do is input the amount you want and then click the Use Smelter button. The amount you input has to be less than or equal to the maximum you are able to make. Also note that creating steel will take away your Iron and Coal, so make sure you don't need any before you create your steel.
